Emergency Help Needed – Temporary power generator for shelter

Friday, June 18th, 2010

Dear PAWS Supporters,

Following the extremely high temperatures being experienced in Kuwait at the moment, rumours are circulating that the government plans to carry out periodic electricity cuts. We do not know at present if there is any truth in these rumours but nevertheless we must start to make plans.

At our animal shelter in Wafra right now the situation is already desperate, one of our air-con units breaks down daily and the heat is causing severe logistical problems.

If we lose our power we will inevitably have fatalities as many animals will not survive these 50 plus temperatures, no matter how hot you think it is right now its always 4-5 degrees hotter down in Wafra.

The cost of an emergency generator is prohibitedly expensive so we are asking if anyone has access to one that we might borrow, then we can use it if the situation becomes worse and our power is cut….any help with this or any air conditioning units would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any connections with companies or individuals, it would be enormously helpful if you could contact them and try and get a generator and/or fuel donation.

Please contact PAWS by email or leave comment in case if can help.

Dog – Found in Mishref

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Young male dog found wandering in Mishref, no apparent owner so available for immediate adoption, please contact PAWS

Found – white Pomeranian/Maltese Female

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

I have taken in a small white Pomeranian/Maltese Female.

She was found about two weeks ago in Salwa Block 11. I heard that a blonde woman and child were looking for a small white dog in this area a few weeks ago.

The dog is sweet natured, and house trained, so I am sure that she has a loving family somewhere.

She has had puppies, and her one eye appears smaller than the other.

If anyone is looking for her. please leave comment or contact PAWS by email.

Found: Neutered male puppy, possibly German Shepherd

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

We found a neutered, male puppy outside our gate in Bayan this afternoon, possibly a German Shepherd. Because he’s been altered and because he is extremely friendly, it is clear that he is someone’s pet.

We can’t keep him permanently — we have three cats — but maybe we can find someone to watch him while we’re out of the country and until space opens up.

I’m attaching a picture, just in case.  (Also, I’m second guessing my husband’s assessment that he’s neutered — I think he may be young enough that his testes are just not fully descended, but I’m not an expert).  Anyway, he is very sweet and lovely.

Please contact PAWS or leave comment in case if you want temporary foster or adopt him.

15 June-2010: Success Story

Cats found new family. Please see comments for details!

please help – We need a new home

Our Mum is moving and we can’t go with her

I’m Bowie – I’m three years old, and I’m a pure bred Persian. I have one blue and one green eye, just like David, hence my name.

I’m Osama, I’m 18 months old and I’m half Persian and something else – I’m not a pure bred like my brother, but I’m really good looking and pretty charming. My name means ‘Lion’ in Arabic.

We are toilet trained, low maintenance and great at cheering you up when you’ve had a rough day. We used to be real men, but now we’re just for show because we don’t have our boy bits or our claws anymore, although we are fighting fit and healthy. We’re super laid back and really good company.

We would really love to say together if we can, because we make such a good team. Best of all – we’re for free.

Please call Jackie 66476499 if you would like to adopt us.
